Get to Know Dr. Rohan Patel
Born in India and raised in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Rohan Patel moved to the United States for his dental career. Today, his favorite thing about his job is helping people achieve healthy, confident smiles! It’s incredibly rewarding for him to relieve another’s pain, improve their oral health, and see their self-esteem blossom after their treatment. Dentistry, for him, is more than treating teeth—it’s about making a positive impact on the overall well-being of others. Getting to meet people and build relationships with patients over time makes his work even more meaningful, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Patel decided to become a dentist because he was always drawn to the combination of healthcare, precision, and artistry. Dentistry allows him to work his hands while also solving problems and directly helping others in a way that’s visible and impactful. Being able to see someone leave the office pain-free or with renewed confidence makes it all worthwhile. He chose to pursue a dental career back in college; after shadowing a dentist and seeing the personal connections they built with their patients and the positive impact they made in the lives of people around them.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After graduating from the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University with his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry in Canada, Dr. Patel studied at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Medicine for his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree. He regularly participates in continuing education courses so he can remain up to date on advancements in dentistry. He’s received training in various areas like cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, same-day crowns, and advanced restorative techniques. He also loves blending technology with healthcare, such as incorporating 3D imaging and AI-powered diagnostic tools into his practice to improve patient care.
Dr. Patel has worked in private practice for a while, treating patients of all ages with diverse dental needs. From routine cleanings and fillings to more complex treatments like crowns, bridges, and full-mouth reconstructions, he’s built a comprehensive skill set to provide essential care for his patients. He’s also volunteered in community outreach programs that offered care to underserved populations, which was incredibly humbling and rewarding. Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Patel comes from a close-knit family and loves spending as much time as he can with his loved ones. When he isn’t at the office, he’s likely with his wonderful wife, who has been a constant source of encouragement, inspiration, and balance in his life. In his spare time, he enjoys staying active and exploring hobbies that help maintain a healthy work-life balance. Other than his passion for fitness, he also likes outdoor activities, such as hiking, taking a walk with his family, and playing sports. Traveling is also a major interest, as it allows him to explore new cultures and cuisines. At home, he enjoys reading, diving into a good movie or series, and cheering on New England sports teams!
